Did you know there are 3 layers of pelvic muscles that serve to control your bowel, bladder, and sexual function? Together, they are called, "The Pelvic Floor." We have been told, "Just do Kegels," but this advice is outdated and insufficient. Most people do Kegels incorrectly. Whether you have had children or not, you can be proactive about your future bowel, bladder, and sexual function.
Come to this active 90 minute workshop to learn how to gain control over your pelvic floor. This area of our body responds to stress and anxiety by clenching which can cause pelvic pain, urinary frequency or urgency, and constipation. Adversely, if there is low tone or weakness in this area of our body we can have symptoms of vaginal fullness, urine leakage, bowel or gas leakage, or urinary retention. The misconception is you need to do specific "Kegel" exercises to improve the control, but this is no longer accurate based on the current research.
The true control is in the coordination of these muscles with our breath and mindfulness. This is something you are called to do during yoga practice. I intend to empower you through education of the anatomy how to properly activate and relax your pelvic floor and how to protect your pelvic floor while you exercise.
